Sunday Storytime with Cynthia Centerbar

Join us for a Spooky Sunday Storytime—Cynthis Centerbar will be in the store on both Saturday and Sunday to read her spooktacular book, Poor Farm Meadow.

No RSVP required.

About Poor Farm Meadow:

Dark, rhythmic prose makes Poor Farm Meadow a gentle ghost story with spine‑tingling suspense and a touch of colonial history. It is a spooky but not scary atmospheric children’s book, featuring hand‑painted, moonlit collage that casts shadows over the new neighborhood and its diverse gang of six. Dressed up as a mystery for young readers, it pulls a boat, a lion, a witch, a clown, a Dalmatian, and a tube of toothpaste toward a pulsing moment of stranger danger—and leaves them forever curious about the figures who emerge from the darkness. A true Halloween‑night adventure to be shared and passed down.

About Cynthia Centerbar:

Cynthia Centerbar is a grandmother, author, and illustrator. Praised by Readers' Favorite as a “gentle and engaging” storyteller, her picture books are created by memorable childhood moments.

Cynthia’s book journey began when her brother convinced her to learn to draw so she could illustrate the stories she had been writing since childhood.  Preferring paper over a digital page, her artwork has been exhibited at the Worcester Art Museum and the Briarwood Gallery. Cynthia continues to create what she calls her "little books" from her Massachusetts home — crafting stories that encourage curiosity, nurture empathy, and help children grow.
