About the Instructor:

Chilton Ames is a local Mahjong instructor who loves introducing others to what she calls the game of "Peace and Friendship." An avid bridge player for many years, she once thought Mahjong might interfere with her longtime passion for conventions and cards. But after completing her first class, she quickly realized it was a game everyone should add to their toolbox.

Why Play Mahjong?

There are countless reasons! Mahjong is a tile game that challenges the brain, helping sharpen decision-making skills. Experts even suggest that playing regularly may support cognitive health and slow mental decline. Feeling a little blue? Many players find that worries fade away while forming sequences, and the tactile feel and rhythmic sound of the tiles can be deeply soothing.
