Join us for an evening with David Shactman to celebrate the release of his medical mystery, “Mortal Choice.” The evening will include a talk by the author, audience Q+A, and book signing.

The event will begin at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

About Mortal Choice:

In the shadow world of black-market kidneys, a single mother and FBI agent faces a terrible choice. Can she conspire with the killers she is investigating to get her daughter a life-saving kidney?

Through the vehicle of a tense murder mystery, Shactman has created a story that will pull on the heartstrings of any parent. What if it was your daughter? Would you compromise your morals? Would you break the law? How far would you go to save the life of your only child?

About David Shactman:

After studying health policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, David Shactman worked on clinical practice guidelines for the U.S. Agency of Health Care Policy and Research then joined the research faculty at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. An expert in health policy and medical tourism, his  short fiction and poetry have been featured in Descant, Foliate Oak, The Boston Globe, and Newton TAB. As an academic at Brandeis University, he was also the co-author of Power, Politics, and Universal Health Care: The Inside Story of a Century-Long Battle. He lives with his wife, Ellen, in Newton, Massachusetts and Florida.
